Keep your face recognizable in AI photos

To keep your face recognizable in AI photos, start with a clear reference and change only a few things at a time. No prompt can guarantee a perfect identity match.

Use a clear, unfiltered reference

Choose a front-facing or gently angled photo with even light. Heavy filters, tiny faces and deep shadows leave the model with less useful information.

Prompt for a recognizable face in AI photos

Ask the model to preserve recognizable facial features, skin tone, hair texture and natural proportions. Avoid conflicting instructions such as a dramatic age change while also requesting an unchanged face.

Limit the first edit

Try changing only the background or lighting first. Once the result is useful, experiment with clothing and framing. Large changes in pose can make identity preservation harder.

Inspect the actual result

Compare the output with the reference. Pay attention to the eyes, jaw, facial marks and expression. Delete results you do not want to keep, and do not use generated portraits as proof of identity.

An example for a small lighting edit

Try: “Use this authorized adult portrait as the reference. Change only the lighting to soft window light. Preserve recognizable facial features, facial marks, skin tone, hair texture, expression and clothing. Keep the original framing and natural proportions.” This is an original, untested starting point. It asks for a limited change rather than promising an exact face match.

When recognizable details still drift

Return to the original reference instead of repeatedly editing a generated result. Repeated edits can carry earlier changes forward. Remove conflicting age, expression or pose instructions. If several careful attempts remain unsuitable, stop and choose a different supported workflow rather than treating a longer prompt as a guarantee.

Check before you share

Check the eyes, nose, jaw, expression and any distinctive facial marks against the authorized reference. Also inspect hands and accessories. Do not use a generated portrait for identity verification, evidence or a deceptive endorsement. Explicit permission to edit a photo is separate from permission to publish it.
